Important information about the risks of trading leveraged products with Fortexa.
CFDs are complex instruments and come with a high risk of losing money rapidly due to leverage. A high percentage of retail investor accounts lose money when trading CFDs. You should consider whether you understand how CFDs work and whether you can afford to take the high risk of losing your money. You should not invest money that you cannot afford to lose.
Fortexa provides access to a range of trading products, including complex derivative products that are traded on margin. Trading derivative products carries a high level of risk and may not be suitable for all investors.
Before trading complex derivative products such as CFDs and FX, you should consider whether you fully understand how they work and the risks involved, and seek independent financial advice if necessary. You should also ensure that you have adequate financial resources to bear such risks. This Risk Disclosure is incorporated into, and should be read together with, our Terms of Service Agreement.
CFDs are leveraged products, meaning they require an initial deposit, or "margin," to be placed upfront in order for a position to be opened. The margin represents only a small portion of the overall value of your position. The minimum margin required to open a trade typically depends on the underlying instrument you are trading.
Leverage enables you to gain large exposure to a financial market while putting up a relatively small amount of your capital. This magnifies the scope for both gains and losses. While leverage can work in your favour, it can also work against you: small movements in the market can lead to a proportionately much larger movement in the value of your position, and there is a high risk of losing money rapidly if the market moves against you.
You must maintain sufficient margin at all times. If your margin level falls below the applicable threshold, your open positions may be closed automatically (stop-out / liquidation) without prior notice, in order to limit further losses. It is advisable to apply risk-mitigating tools such as stop-loss orders, though these do not guarantee protection against loss in all market conditions.
Trading in cryptocurrency CFDs involves significant risks in addition to the general risks associated with CFDs. Cryptocurrencies are virtual currencies that are not issued or backed by any central bank or government. They can experience extreme price volatility which, in combination with leverage, can place a significant risk of loss on your capital, including the rapid loss of your entire balance. You should be aware of these risks and carefully consider whether trading cryptocurrency CFDs is appropriate for you.
Transactions in Foreign Exchange contracts carry a high degree of risk and may not be suitable for all investors. The gearing or leverage often obtainable in forex trading means that a relatively small market movement can result in a proportionately larger movement in the value of your position. Before deciding to trade forex, you should carefully consider whether you have the appropriate level of experience and risk appetite. You could sustain a loss of some or all of your initial investment, and you should not invest more money than you can afford to lose.
CFDs on precious metals such as gold (XAU/USD) are leveraged and can be highly volatile. Prices can move sharply in response to interest-rate decisions, inflation data, geopolitical events, and changes in the US dollar, including gaps when markets reopen after weekends or holidays. A small price movement can lead to a large loss relative to your margin, and your position may be closed automatically if your margin level falls below the required threshold. You could lose some or all of your invested capital.
Past performance of any investment is not a guarantee of future results. The value of investments can fall as well as rise, and you could get back less than you initially invested. Similarly, any forecasts or analytical estimates of financial market situations should not be treated as a reliable indicator of future performance.
Copy trading places trades on your account automatically, based on the activity of another customer of the platform. That person is not our employee, agent or adviser; we do not select, supervise or verify their strategy, and copying them is not investment advice. Their published results reflect the past and are not a reliable indicator of future performance. Copied positions carry the same leverage risk as your own: you can lose the entire amount you allocate to a subscription, and losses can accumulate quickly because trades are opened without your involvement. A trade may also be copied late, at a different price, or not at all.
The same applies to trading through our API. Software you connect acts with your authority and at your risk: a defect in it, an unhandled error, a stale price or a lost connection can open unintended positions or leave positions unmanaged. You are responsible for testing your software and for every trade it places.
Fortexa provides its services on an execution-only basis and does not provide investment, tax, or legal advice. Nothing on the platform constitutes a recommendation to enter into any transaction. All trading decisions are made solely by you and at your own risk. By using the Service, you confirm that you have studied the risks described here, assessed the possible consequences of your actions, and fully accept these risks.
